There are many perks that come with booking through a travel advisor — VIP status, amenities, white glove service, firsthand knowledge, relationships with the property, and more. We work with you to narrow down the options, present the best choices, organize the trip, handle transportation and logistics, and ensure everything is seamless.
Booking your hotel through us is a no-brainer. When booking with AR Travels, you get the possibility of additional amenities and upgrades, and VIP status within the hotel. Hotel-only bookings are free because hotels pay travel advisors commission — our commissions come out of the hotel's marketing budget, so the rate you see online and the rate through us will be the same or lower.
Amex is also a travel agency. The biggest difference is that we offer individualized, personalized service. Our clients are also typically prioritized for upgrades and additional service above Amex and status-holding guests, because of our personal relationships with brands and properties.
We work worldwide and have placed clients in over 65 countries.
We are not able to book through credit card points or airline credits — you would need to book those on your own, and no additional amenities or VIP status will be included. That said, we are big supporters (and users) of points and can make suggestions on where best to use them, typically for flights. We can work around your points reservations and fill in the hotel and other pieces.
Yes, you can! We book directly with the hotel or airline so you can earn points and miles toward your status as you normally would. Your status perks stack with the additional ones we secure for you. There may occasionally be promotional rates that don’t qualify for points — we’ll always flag those.
Each hotel, transportation company, tour company, airline, and other partner is paid directly by you. AR Travels does not front any payments on your behalf. The trip planning fee is billed securely via Stripe for the time spent planning and goes directly to AR Travels.
Yes — we recommend travel insurance for every client. We work with great, reputable insurance and medevac partners.
Planning fees cover the time and energy spent researching, curating, and QA-ing your trip, working with suppliers on your behalf, supporting our team, and providing you white glove service throughout.
Absolutely. We love working with planners. This is your vacation — whether you want every second planned or prefer a more open itinerary, we can work with you.
We don't have absolute minimums, especially for hotel and cruise-only bookings. That said, most of our relationships are with 4- and 5-star properties. We do have a $10,000 minimum spend for Christmas week and Spring Break.
Travel advisors cannot book Airbnbs and are very restricted in villa and VRBO bookings — we can't maintain relationships with individual properties and therefore can't ensure quality control. We do work with managed villa rental companies, especially for larger groups.
Yes, we get great rates on rental cars! A rental car must be booked as part of a larger trip.
We are not able to manage dining reservations. We often make restaurant recommendations to our clients, but leave the actual booking to you or the hotel concierge. The same is true for nightlife, including New Year’s Eve parties. Dining and nightlife are both very personal and the experience varies significantly from client to client.
Sites like Booking.com and Expedia often sell rooms at a loss to drive volume. Their rates are frequently very restrictive and offer no customer service, even in the event of unavoidable disruption. Our rates match the best available live rates on the hotel’s own website and come with added service and amenities. AR Travels also offers a price drop tool that allows us to monitor rates and rebook you if the rate drops. We do occasionally book Expedia rates for clients when price is the primary factor, but we don’t recommend it.
We understand that plans change. Each partner — hotels, transfer companies, tour companies, airlines — has their own cancellation and deposit policies, which are set independently of AR Travels. We must abide by each policy. Trip planning fees are nonrefundable.
Referrals are the greatest compliment we receive. When someone you refer completes their first trip with us, we plan your next journey on us — and theirs too. To redeem, you must have completed at least one trip with AR Travels.
